Spanish For Hitchhiking
“Spanish For Hitchhiking has been part of the vibrant Western Massachusetts music scene since 2001. The band: Dennis Crommett (vocals and guitar), Dave Chalfant (guitar), Max Germer (bass), and Dave Hower (drums). The band’s third record “Wild Love” was released in 2021, at which time Northampton’s WRSI added the song “In Stereo” to their regular rotation. In 2012, they recorded a cover of “El Clavo Y La Cruz” with Black Francis (Pixies), for “A Tribute To Repo Man” on American Laundromat Records. Black Francis also joined SFH at a show for two songs, and Crommett opened a few Black Francis solo shows in the Northeast.
Noam Schatz is the Lucky Shots, a singer, song-writer, and multi-instrumentalist who has written a new song every two weeks since 2016. His well-crafted songs are catchy and tuneful, yet the lyrics point to much deeper thoughts and feelings. On his 2023 debut LP, “Count to Nothing”, the songs are a reflection of the mysteries of the everyday human situation, born of celebration and suffering in equal parts. The Lucky Shots live band features Western Massachusetts veteran musicians Anand Nayak (Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem), Jim Bliss (Stella Kola, APIE, Wet Tuna), and Mike Benoit (The True Believers, Rosie Porter and the Neon Moons).
